Mike Gelin has proudly called the City of Tamarac home for over 18 years. As both a homeowner and a small business owner, Mike recently founded Tamarac News, Inc., a local news blog dedicated to providing insider perspectives on the city’s stories and events.

From 2018 to 2022, Mike Gelin served as Vice Mayor and District 2 Commissioner of Tamarac. During his tenure, Commissioner Gelin spearheaded numerous initiatives aimed at enhancing residents’ quality of life and nurturing a vibrant community. His notable achievements include reducing property taxes, creating opportunities for local small businesses and veteran-owned enterprises, and establishing reintegration pathways for returning citizens.

Commissioner Gelin passionately embraced Tamarac’s diverse population, recognizing it as a cornerstone of the city’s identity. He championed policies celebrating the influx of global citizens and promoted a healthy, inclusive community environment.

In his dedication to transparency and accountability, Commissioner Gelin directed city staff to publish a Popular Annual Financial Report, providing residents with clear insights into the city’s finances. He also organized and hosted the Cops & Community Forum, fostering meaningful dialogue between law enforcement and residents on critical issues, thereby strengthening community engagement and understanding.

Under Commissioner Gelin’s leadership, Tamarac achieved significant milestones, including becoming the 100th city to join Cities for Citizenship, underscoring its commitment to diversity and immigrant support. “Tamarac’s growing diversity is one of our greatest strengths,” remarked Commissioner Mike Gelin, highlighting his dedication to building an inclusive and welcoming city for all residents.
